Quillcast: "politics"

Last night I carved myself a new quill pen, using the small blade of my new Swiss Army Knife. The result is rather satisfactory. I tested it by writing a short, rather pessimistic rumination on workplace "politics," after reflecting on the many instances thereof that I've witnessed in my few working years.

Ugh...I hear ya. I've tried to stay away from workplace politics as much as I could, but it still comes up from time to time.

The petty stuff, really sucks. That's really just different egos posturing themselves to get what they want. And it happens all the time, at work, in government (local or larger) and even in the home.

The original idea of politics (in any sense), was to sway the populace to the "right" decision, by informing them through logic and information they didn't have available. You make people aware of what they don't know, and you hope to convince them that what you propose is good and they should get behind it...

Unfortunately, when a leader uses subterfuge or the information is skewed, flaws are introduced to the process and everything breaks...

It's not universal, I'm sure, but as of late I have been seeing more selfish, irresponsible behaviors from adults than from children. At least kids feel guilt when they are caught doing something bad. Adults just tend to try to counter-blame or rationalize their malfeasance through relativistic means.

On the other hand, good lookin' quillcast!
