(I took the header picture of a Common Loon resting on a pond in Utah on its way north in June of 2015. It was in transition from winter to summer plumage.)

Typecast: a small blessing

The knife was a birthday present from my sister - thanks Sis!

Great story.

When I was a kid and my family went camping in the Black Hills of SD, my dad made me a walking stick from a branch I'd found. Carved my name near the top and everything. Some years later, it broke, and Dad pinned and glued the break for me. I *still* have that thing and use it on hikes once in a while.

Good idea, shellacing it. I should do that to mine to help preserve it.

Word ver: comple: as in, "This word ver is incomple."

I need a better swiss army knife for these sorts of occasions.

Leatherman multitool FTW.

Sounds nice and providential, though. I'd also love it if I could find free-range mesquite for the smoker in the back yard.
